"It was a charming village with wide streets and a central park." |

The railroad brought a great
deal of industrial business to this small farming town that is
located on the main line of the Illinois Central Railroad.
In 1901, after a new warehouse and stockyards were constructed,
a municipality was formed and soon there was a new school and
church erected.

Today, Cleghorn offers a
quality of life that cherishes its small town family values.
The vibrant community is the home to two manufacturers (Taylor
Refrigeration and Wetherell Manufacturing), Cherokee County
Historical Society, and a new library that was built in
conjunction with the local school. The town also holds an
annual "Ice Cream Day" the second Saturday of June each year.
It involves all sort of activities and events throughout the day
and tops off the night with free ice cream.
